Harold Krents wrote this to show us his perspective on life that we probably don't know. Obviously he's blind and we don't know what's that is like, So he explaining his complications and trials he has to go through on a daily basis because of his disability. I agree with Krents, people with disabilities all want to be treated the same as people without disability. I really cant recall a time where i felt this way, but i have a friend who is deaf and we talk about his situation and how people exclude him from things he wants to do.
Not being able to hear, can change your whole world. I tried Communicating without hearing and its very complicated and difficult to do. My friend Shaheem is deaf, he obviously has a very hard time hearing things but its funny because he is a dancer. He has to use his eyes and his touch to hear the music. I was talking to him one day and he was telling me how hard it is for him to get a job and how hard it is for him to pick up the Choreography. People try to give him special attention when he doesn't require it, he hates it. He tells me, thats he puts his hands to the speaker to feel the vibrations of the beat and he count each move in his head. Even though thats a lot of extra work to do he tells me its well worth it because he enjoys it. He doesn't like it when the choreographer takes time to stop and point him out and baby step him through the choreo and i completely agree with him. People with disabilities want to be treated as equals and not have to be separated from the people without disability, its not fair to them and it feels like it we have a power over them. So i feel people with disabilities should be accepted and treated all fairly and equal just like people without.
